Antique Georgian oil painting portrait of lady in mourning dress and bonnet.

English School, circa 1800-40.

Unsigned, artist unknown.

Provenance on label on reverse: "Mrs George Newby, wife of Reverend George Newby, Rector of Stockton-on-Tees" (died 1846).

Oil on panel. Elaborate gilt gesso frame.

Size of frame: 19.5 x 16.5 inches;

Size of panel: 13 x 10 inches;

Size of front portrait aperture: 12.5 x 9.5 inches.

Weight: 2.3 kg (allow 6 kg volumetric weight once packed).

Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches and lots of knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character.

Priced accordingly.
