Continental School, Italian, circa 1870-1900.

Thought to be a self portrait After Sir Anthony Van Dyk (Flemish, 1599-1641).

Handwritten label in ink on reverse. Galleria Uffizi, Firenze.

A Grand Tour piece.

Oil on board. Elaborate gilt gesso Florentine frame.

Size of frame: 18 x 13 inches;

Size of portrait: 8.5 x 7 inches;

Size of front portrait aperture: 8.25 x 6.5 inches.

Weight: 368g (allow up to 5 kg volumetric weight once packed).

Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches, very delicate and some knocks to and pieces missing from gesso frame but all part of its charm and character.

Priced accordingly.

This item is very delicate and it is therefore recommended that it be collected from Brockley, London SE4, and is offered on this basis.

It may, however, be possible for us to use a courier service to pack and send, albeit always at the buyer’s risk and expense.
