Stevengraphs are small Jacquard-woven silk pictures made by Thomas Stevens of Coventry.
“Woven in silk by Thomas Stevens, Inventor and Manufacturer, Coventry and London (Registered)”.
Stevens developed the technique out of Coventry’s ribbon-weaving industry; his scenic silk pictures appeared commercially from 1879.
Glazed with gilt frame.
Size of frame: 12 x 9.25 inches;
Size of textile aperture: 6 x 2 inches.
Weight: 888g (allow 2 kg volumetric weight once packed).
Condition commensurate with age - various superficial marks & scratches but all part of its charm and character.
