Antique English pewter bleeding bowl.
Embossed with maker's stamps on base.
English, circa 1850-70.
Originally a medical bleeding bowl where it was thought prior to modern medicine that taking blood from a patient was a good idea.
Top inside diameter: 6 inches; outside diameter: 9.5 inches.
Depth: 4.25 inches.
Weight: 1.1 kg (allow 2 kg once packed).
Battered condition, commensurate with age and use – superficial marks and scratches and there is a dent on the rim but all part of its charm and character.
